What a wonderful time 1953-1956. My brother, John and I talk about camp winape at family gatherings. We drive the grand kids crazy. " Oh, here we go another c/amp winape story." The best of times.

HI, anybody.
I attended the wonderful Camp Winape year around 1959 or 1960.
At the time I was 14 years old and my family lived on Glenwood rd in Tenafly NJ.
Our neighbours were the Dipaolo familys. Lou and Frank.
Sadly in 1961my family moved back to my home country Sweden.
I have some pictures from Camp Winape.
Is there any interest of these pictures?
Attached is an example.(winsample.jpg)
One name I remember very well is David Hopper who is in the attached picture.
Also Jeff, but can´t remember last name.
Please connect me to someone that might be interested.
I may have more pictures but first I must know if I have a contact name.
Then I will thoroughly look for more pictures/negatives.
If there is any interest I will scan the negatives to the best possible way.
In the meantime I have a website which I can use for the pictures when
they appear in my hideabouts.

I was a camper at camp Winape from 1955 until 1960. My brothers Jim and David were also campers. My father, also named John Berwick was head counselor. Great memories. Chief Kolar, Gary Brooks, Wells Jenny, General swim, Band concerts, Campfires. . .

I didn't attend Camp Winape; however the camp has been a part of my life for over 40 years.
I grew up in Southern Ontario. In 1972 I was 12 years old. I bought a copper trophy at a flea market. It's engraving is: "Senior Point Cup, Camp Winape 1922".
Thanks to the internet I've finally learned where Camp Winape is. I'd be willing to sell this cup, if anyone is interested.

Was at Winape during summers of 65, 66 and 67. Did the Mt. Washington trip the last two years, staying in Lake of the Clouds hut near the summit. All staying at the hut sign into a log. Just got back yesterday from taking my 16 year old up the same route, and showed him my signature from 47 years ago! Don't recall my knees hurting then, but sure do now! Learned a lot at Winape, and wish it was still around when my son was of the right age. Saw John Stebbins name below as well - think he was there same time I was.

I still use my canoe paddle and my Bean axe! The axe has proved quite useful for hurricane clean-ups.
Thanks for the pix and the memories. Gotta love Chief and Sass.

wow! Just found this sight.
I was there in 67. I left my mark as a proud member of "Lion's Den"
I was known for being a ringleader in a prank on a tent-mate. We moved every item he own on to the top of the wooden shelter. Looked like he really lived up there. We were busted, and our penalty was to meet st the stables before revile and "level the 30 foot manure pile"...Good Times???

I see Mark Sills and John Stebbins names below. I was there with you both during the 60's. I still talk to some of the campers that were from the Bergen County NJ/Tenafly area.

Winape and Chief made a true impact on my life. Today I have a cabin on an island in Lk. Superior and it always brings the thought of Winape into my mind.

While working on a sailboat docking iat Block Island I met Cliff Payne who used to be one of the guys that drove us up to camp.

I could write a lot but in the end the skills of riding, sailing and skiing have given me many great joys and always bring my thoughts to Camp Winape.
Thanks All!Cheers!!

Great site! I was a camper from '65-'75 and a CIT in '76. My dad is Erik Lessing. We still go up every summer, spending time with the Kolar's and enjoying the lake.

I was a camper from 1944 to 1952 along with my twin brother, Peter. My mother was Ed Kolar's twin and I now own the property just north of Winape and go there every summer. Naturally I see a lot of Ron and Nancy, the Kolar's kids. Great remembrances and a wonderful website.

Just saw the message from Tom Hanley. We bunked together in 1956 in tent #1 Lookout. I wonder if he remembers riding the horses into Island Pond to be shod? We caused a few tears in camp when one of the younger campers heard about the horses being shod. He heard "shot," and was inconsolable! Thanks again for the wonderful site.--Bill
